Program


Program Master of Pharmacy Program in Health Informatics
Philosophy Graduates have knowledge and skills in information science in order to apply the knowledge and conduct the research that enhance problem solving in the pharmaceutical and health professions.
Objective To produce graduate who have the knowledge and skill in
  • 1) Employing information technology in searching and evaluating the validity and reliability of information and health information
  • 2) Employing information technology in designing data storage and health information retrieval
  • 3) Employing information technology to analyse data and health information in order to enhance knowledge discovery
  • 4) Employing information technology to create a modern media for healthcare
  • 5)Researching and employing information technology for health informatics research related to innovation and application development by actively collaborating with either an organization or agency in both public and private sector.




Qualifications of Applicants


  • 1) For Plan A Type A 1

    • 1) The applicants must have completed a Bachelor’s of pharmacy and have a cumulative of grade point average (GPA) not less than 2.75
      2) 2 Have a knowledge in one of the relevant field as follows
       2.1) Studied in the relevant field in information technology, informatics and computer sciences not less than 12 credits from the higher education institution accredited by either Thailand’s Ministry of Education or Thailand’s Office of Civil Service Commission. A GPA of these subjects are not less than 3.00 which calculated from a particular program or calculated from GPA until the latest semester or
       2.2) Attended the training program in informatics, not less than 64 hours, which held by the Department of Health Informatics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Silpakorn University or
       2.3) Conducted the relevant researches in informatics which published in the national academic conference at least 1 publication or
       2.4) Had a working experience in information technology not less than 3 years and an employment certificate is required.
      3) Have other qualifications which will be justified by Faculty committees
      4) Comply with all the qualifications specified in the regulation of Silpakorn University on graduate studies in B.C.2550 and/or with subsequent changes

  • 2) For Plan A Type A 2 and Plan B

    • 1) Completed a Bachelor’s of pharmacy
      2) Have other qualifications which will be justified by Faculty committees
      3) Comply with all the qualifications specified in the regulation of Silpakorn University on graduate studies in B.C.2550 and/or with subsequent changes





Course structure


There are 3 study plans as follows

1) Plan A Type A 1

Core Subjects (No credit being counted) 5 Credits
Thesis (equivalent to) 36 Credits

2) Plan A Type A 2

Core subjects 18 Credits
Elective subjects not less than 3 Credits
Thesis (equivalent to) 15 Credits

3) Plan B

Core subjects 18 Credits
Elective subjects not less than 12 Credits
Independent study (equivalent) and comprehensive examination 6 Credits
Note
The applicants enrol in this academic program is eligible to select only one plan from among these three detailed plans (Plan A Type A1, Plan A Type 2 and Plan B) which will be justified by the program committee. Changing the subject plan will be justified by the program committee and this need to be complied with the regulation of Silpakorn University on graduate studies in B.C.2550, No.17 and/or with subsequent changes.




Teaching Management


Teaching and Learning activities Teaching and learning activities are held on an official date and time. For the special program, teaching and learning activities will be held during weekend.

Careers that can be assembled after graduation


  • 1) Working as a pharmacist in both public and private organization
    2) Working as a pharmacist in the drugstore and conduct a retail pharmacy business
    3) Lecturer, researcher and scientist in the field of health informatics in both public and private organization where related to healthcare
    4) Academic in health informatics in both public and private organization
    5) Pharmacy Information System Analyst and Design
