  • History

     “Department of Health-related Informatics” has the characteristics of activities and status of the department as the 8th department of the Faculty of Pharmacy by establishing as a regulatory agency. Established to support the mission of education, research and service provision that focuses on the specialty of the Bachelor of Pharmacy ProgramThe duration of study is 6 years, which is approved by Silpakorn University Council to be opened for accepting students since the academic year 2006.
     This curriculum has been proposed to be included in the National Economic Plan, Social Development Plan, and Higher Education Development Plan, Issue 9 (2002, 2006) which has passed the resolution/approval of Silpakorn University Council“Department of Health-related Informatics” will be the main unit responsible for the Bachelor of Pharmacy Program. Both programs that have a duration of 6 years (Bachelor of Pharmacy Program in Health Informatics) and the original programs with a duration of 5 years during the transition period. Including the Bachelor of Pharmacy (International Program) with compulsory courses and elective courses in Health Informatics.
     In addition, the Department of Health-related Informatics is also assigned to have a mission, duties and responsibilities to help with educational management at graduate level in the responsibility of the Faculty of Pharmacy as well, both in pharmaceutical science and in Clinical Pharmacy Practice. As for the integrated operation and the cooperation of network partners with other departments both within and outside Silpakorn University, Faculty of Pharmacy (Pharmacy Information Network Unit “Prachanat” and Department of Health-related Informatics including other departments within the faculty) have been visited NECTEC, BIOTEC, Faculty of Engineering of Thammasat University, King Mongkut Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, and etc. Such as Phayathai Hospital Group, Municipality, etc., including the Ministry of Public Health.
     In addition to creating a cooperative network within the Faculty of Pharmacy of the government (Prince of Songkla University, Khon Kaen University, Chiang Mai University, and Chulalongkorn University). Establishing the Health Informatics Unit with the status equal to Department that is responsible for the teaching, research, services, conservation and develop Thai wisdom in this area to achieve the objectives of the Faculty of Pharmacy in producing pharmaceutical graduates with their own identities.Able to create jobs, develop potentials, and develop capacity to be informatics pharmacists in professional development and science in this area, and in performing the workload and responsible for the protection of consumers and the public in pharmaceuticals and health products effectively.
